INVITATION

Invitation

Dear poet friends,

Poets transmit the message of endless time, they are ambassadors of human language, they express the intuition and feeling which honors and worships the natural world, and in today’s world therefore the words of your own poetry are most important. We must not break the string which is the rhythm of the human world and the world of nature. Today we need all the more clearly to express the voice of nature in the human mind through the melody of our language and through listening to the wisdom of the natural world.

With this in mind, we are inviting the poets of the world to gather in Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar for World Poetry Days, “The Wisdom of Nature and the Nature of the Human Soul,” to attend to the 37th World Congress of Poets, to read your poetry at the International Poetry Festival, to travel in the Gobi desert, to grow closer to each other, to open their hearts and exchange their experiences.

I am inviting to you to the World Poetry Days in Mongolia between 16-22 August 2017. Please familiarise yourself with the information of the event and brief program enclosed with this invitation.

Yours Sincerely,

G.Mend-Ooyo
President, World Poetry Days in Mongolia

Travel and Event Information on the Poetry Festival in the Gobi

Poetry trip to the Gobi: During the poetic journey we will travel 500km from Ulaanbaatar, visiting the area where the nineteenth century poet, scholar and educator, the reincarnate Buddhist lama Danzanravjaa lived, and there you will have the opportunity to learn about nomadic culture and to listen to the spirit of poetry beneath the stars.
Trip to the Gobi is long, do not forget to pack casual comfortable clothes, a sun hat, sunglasses and warm clothes for early morning and late evening.

On the evening of 18 August, so as to save time, we will travel by sleeper train.
We will arrive on the morning of 19 August. We will have the opportunity to get to know the nomadic lifestyle, to visit with herders, to ride camels and horses, and to experience Mongolian life and gain inspiration from new experiences.
In the evening, we will have International Poetry Festival beneath the stars.
The winner(s) of the International poetry prize named after the nineteenth century poet Danzanravjaa will be announced.
On 20 August, we will visit the extraordinary Shambhala complex in the Gobi. We have organized a journey into the secrets of wisdom, amid the great power of the natural world and the special images of the Mongolian Gobi. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity and we will take similar journeys on other days.
During the trip we will read poetry, and sing and dance and discuss freely together, and so grow deeper in friendship.
We will travel back to Ulaanbaatar by train in the evening, arriving on the morning of 21 August.
